New jobs as specialist school opens in Hampshire
NEWS RELEASE: ISSUED ON BEHALF OF THE PRIORY GROUP
Priory Education Services, part of the Priory Group, is responding to an increase in demand for its specialist services with the opening of Clay Hill School in Lyndhurst which is creating up to 30 new jobs for the area.
Clay Hill School will provide care and education for up to 25 young people aged 5 to 19 years with Autism and associated learning difficulties. Up to 14 young people will be resident at the school, either on a weekly, term-time or 52 week basis. It will benefit from the experience and expertise of the wider Priory Group, including neighbouring Coxlease School.
Clay Hill School’s service includes a day school and three residential homes. All the houses are designed to be comfortable, homely and reflect ordinary domestic style living. Each house consists of a lounge, kitchen, dining room, quiet area and a number of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities. All the young people are encouraged to personalise their rooms to reflect their individual personality and preference.
To achieve the best possible outcomes for the children, every young person is allocated a key worker who is responsible for co-ordinating and facilitating an inclusive approach across all internal and external services. The key worker has responsibility from admission through to transition into adulthood within the wider community.
An Open Day is being held on 28th March 2014 between 11am and 2.30 pm to enable interested professionals and prospective employees to visit the school, meet members of the educational and residential staff and view the excellent educational and residential facilities.
Karen Gaster, Principal said: “This specialist school for young people with Autism has been welcomed by professionals and will bring high-quality; much needed care and education provision to Hampshire.
“The experience the Priory Group has in mental health, complex and long term care will enhance its care and education provision and the new school will bring long-term, secure jobs to the area.”
