NEWS RELEASE: ISSUED ON BEHALF OF MIDDLETON ENTERPRISES AND D-LINE

D-Line, the North Tyneside manufacturer of decorative trunking, increased sales to £1.2 million in 2009 and is heading for a record year in 2010, with the guidance and support of North East-based investor and adviser Jeremy Middleton.

D-Line, which supplies its trunking to leading DIY retailers and trade outlets, was set up when managing director Paul Ruddick spotted a niche in the market for a product which stylishly hides wires and pipes in a way which blends with decor.

2009 saw D-Line, which also works directly with clients in sectors such as local government and social housing, become a profitable business and doubled export revenue. The investment and business advice received from Middleton Enterprises has helped to bring this about.

Middleton Enterprises, which represents Mr Middleton’s investment interests including his position as a co-founder of the billion pound property care business HomeServe, has supported D-Line with £160,000 of investment since 2006, shortly after its late 2005 start-up.

D-Line’s growth in 2009 was part of a successful year for Middleton Enterprises which, through private equity investments such as this, grew by 41% to £55m.

Jeremy Middleton said: “D-Line are providing something which has been needed for so long, offering a long-overdue alternative to the age-old boxing that you see in homes and offices. The success of the business is largely down to Paul and his team. I am very happy to have worked with the business, which is now a profitable venture, supplying to a range of sectors. Moving forward I believe D-Line will continue to build upon its success to date.”

Paul Ruddick, managing director of D-Line, said: “The investment from Jeremy, alongside North Star Equity Investors and other investors, has been vital to the growth of D-Line and his sound business advice has complemented the idea behind the business and my own sales background to bring about the success to date. With so many cables used in modern homes, coupled with the opportunities in the trade and social housing sectors, the business now has a base from which we can really develop.”
