International Women's Day – Danielle Croce, Commercial Director at Intasite

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

As a female entrepreneur leading a tech company dedicated to revolutionising the induction and site access process for safety-critical sites, International Women's Day holds a personal and professional significance for me. In a male dominated industry, this day is a celebration of progress and a reminder of the journey women have undertaken in breaking barriers and making strides towards gender equality.

My journey as a business owner has been shaped by the influence of strong women in my life. My grandmother, a formidable entrepreneur in her own right who owned a fishmonger in her local town, instilled in me the values of hard work and determination. Her support, both emotional and financial, laid the groundwork for my entrepreneurial aspirations as she helped me to kick-start my business. Her legacy motivates me to create a world where my own daughters, aged two and four, can dream without limits and pursue any path they desire. I want them to grow up in a society that does not limit their aspirations based on gender, but rather, one that encourages them to envision themselves in roles traditionally dominated by men or in any field they choose.

Why is it important to inspire inclusion?

The importance of inspiring inclusion cannot be overstated. As the lone female in my company until recently, I am acutely aware of the need to diversify our workforce and embrace the unique perspectives that women bring. I am thrilled that we have just welcomed our first female team member, other than myself, which signifies a significant milestone in our journey towards creating a more balanced, innovative, and empathetic workplace. It underscores our commitment to fostering an environment where all individuals, regardless of gender, can thrive and contribute their fullest potential.

Empowering women is essential, but it is equally crucial to engage men in the conversation. By fostering a culture of inclusivity where both genders support and uplift each other, we can ensure mutual success by adding valuable dimensions to our problem-solving capabilities, team dynamics, and customer relations, amongst setting a new standard of inclusivity in our industry. Together, we can create a world where gender equality is not just a distant ideal, but a tangible reality for all by challenging stereotypes, breaking down barriers, and creating a world where every individual can succeed based on merit, not gender.
