Flat Roofing Design Specialist TaperedPlus On Track to Record Turnover In Excess of £9m

04/01/2023

TaperedPlus, a national leader in the design and supply of flat roofing, is on target to increase turnover by 26 per cent to more than £9m.

The independent company has enjoyed a successful 2021/22 partly due to an increased demand for insulation due to spiralling energy costs.

As well improving the thermal performance of flat roofing there is also a move to upgrade older structures to non-combustible materials in anticipation of expected legislation changes, pressure from the insurance industry and building owners wanting to future proof their assets.

Stockton-on-Tees headquartered TaperedPlus has succeeded in growing turnover every year, except for 2020 due to the pandemic, since it was established in 2014 by Aman Chahal and Rob Vass. In the previous 2020/21 financial year, it achieved a turnover of £7.2m.

It recently appointed Stuart Mitton to the newly created role of financial director as part of its long-term strategy to further scale the company in the coming year.

Aman Chahal, chief executive officer, said: “We are on track to achieve a turnover in excess of £9m, a tremendous achievement considering this represents a 26 percent increase compared with the previous financial year.

“This is due to the hard work of our team in securing new business and in continuing to strengthen the relationships we have with our long-standing clients.

“We already have an ambitious strategy in place to continue to expand the business in response to changes in legislation that will increase demand for our services.”

The recent publication of the Building (Amendment) Regulations 2022 impacts several areas surrounding flat roofing. These include expanding the act to include hotels, hostels and boarding houses, and including a new height category of 11m to 18m for residential buildings to bring them into line with fire performance requirements.

He added: “The Grenfell Tower disaster has provided added urgency for the industry and regulators to improve fire compliance standards going forward, which includes retrofitting legacy roofing structures.

“In addition, in response to the current energy crisis and the race meet Net Zero targets, there is renewed interest in using insulation systems that improve thermal performance, thereby reducing heating costs as well as carbon emissions.”

As well as supplying revolutionary roofing materials to ensure a quality finish, TaperedPlus, which also has a technical design centre in Wolverhampton, is also experienced at designing and supplying a range of insulation systems for commercial, industrial and domestic markets.

It has been involved in several prestigious construction projects, involving Bristol Airport, Canterbury Christ Church University, and the Mercedes F1 AMG operations facility.
