BANNATYNE CONTINUES TO INVEST AT RECENTLY ACQUIRED LEEDS CLUB

11/10/2021

The Bannatyne Group’s recently acquired Cardigan Fields health club hosted an event which was livestreamed to thousands of fitness app users to mark the launch its new digitally enabled fitness studio.

Investment in the club enables members to enjoy a significantly increased class timetable, which now includes the full range of Les Mills classes alongside pre-existing instructor-led sessions.

The latest MyZone-enabled screens, which allow members to view their heart rate using a lightweight chest strap, have also been installed alongside a four-screen smart wall that provides members with an immersive fitness experience during virtual classes.

As part of the official opening of the new studio, the club hosted its first ever global MyZone Cardio Club event, which was led by MyZone Master Trainer Billy Burchett and live streamed to thousands of MyZone users across the world.

The virtual classes are hosted by Les Mills and include some of the world's most popular workouts, including BODYPUMP, BODYCOMBAT and BODYATTACK.

Les Mills classes work in conjunction with MyZone, so that users can view their heart rate and adjust their workout accordingly. The data also is transmitted via wireless technology and tracked through the Bannatyne app.

Colin MacGillivray, head of commercial at The Bannatyne Group, said: “The reception from our members has been fantastic. Until now, their ability to take part in Les Mills classes was dictated by instructor availability and training, but now a whole new world of exciting fitness classes are at their fingertips.

“Of course, we recognise that many people benefit from classes with instructors, so they are being retained, but with the added technological improvements that MyZone and the Les Mills studio provides.

“This latest investment at Bannatyne Health Club Cardigan Fields brings the technology and class offering of our newest club in-line with the rest of the Group’s portfolio. We are always reviewing our club’s equipment and classes so we can provide members with the best fitness and wellbeing experience possible.”

Billy Burchett, MyZone master trainer, said: “It was great to lead a class of more than 150 at Bannatyne Health Club Cardigan Fields, with thousands of people across the world also able to join in. The new studio looks fantastic, and I’m pleased to welcome members at the club to the MyZone family.”

Carl McCartney, Customer Experience Director, at Les Mills said: “We’re very pleased to continue to build our relationship with The Bannatyne Group and provide its members with an ever-growing number of classes designed to help everyone, no matter their fitness level, take steps towards achieving their wellness aims.”

The former Virgin Active club became the 71st club in the Bannatyne portfolio when it was acquired by the Group in September 2021. It is the Group’s third club within the West Yorkshire Combined Authority area, joining Cookridge Hall and Wakefield.

Alongside the new Les Mills studio, it also offers an extensive gym floor, with state-of-the-art Technogym Skill Line equipment, as well as a luxurious pool, spa bath, sauna, and steam room.
