23/05/2022

Staff at a Peterlee care home have been officially recognised for their career progression and newly acquired expertise.

Julie Malcolm and Claire Pye have been presented with certificates to celebrate their qualification as social care associate practitioners.

Both work at Peterlee care home, in the town’s Westcott Road, which is part of Popular Care.

Steve Massey, the company’s operations manager, said: “Popular Care is committed to offering training and development opportunities to ensure that staff can progress in their careers and expand their knowledge and expertise.

“This not only ensures that our residents enjoy the best standards of care, but also contributes to staff job satisfaction.

“Helping our staff thrive professionally is a key part of the philosophy group-wide and within our individual care homes.

“Well done to Julie and Claire at Peterlee care home for achieving this new qualification.”

Social care practitioners give practical, clinical and emotional support to the people they look after. Working with individuals and their families, they help ensure a person’s wellbeing so that they can enjoy the best quality of life possible.

Peterlee care home caters for up to 44 people, delivering residential, nursing and specialised dementia care.

It has a large, landscaped garden with plenty of seating, a choice of communal lounges, a café, cinema, a hairdresser and an activity room where residents can relax and socialise with friends, family or fellow residents.

The home is rated as good by the industry regulator, the Care Quality Commission, which inspects elements including safety, effectiveness, standards of care, responsiveness, and management.
