NEW CARE HOME SERVICE IN STAFFORD SET TO CREATE 20 JOBS

09/03/2022

The ECHO Group, in partnership with family-owned builder Seddon Group, has started its next major investment.

The development, in Hawksmoor Road, Stafford, will comprise a six-bed care home for adults with a learning disability and will be operated by ECHO (Enhanced Community Health Care Options) Group.

The creation of the care home is a direct result of discussions with local commissioners and the need for this type of accommodation locally.

It will give much-needed options to service users and their families and will allow them to remain in the area.

The care home will create jobs for about 20 people.

ECHO specialises in supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and distressed behaviour to live as independently as possible and to enable them to play an active part in the community.

The care home, which represents a £2 millioninvestment, is due to be completed by January 2023.

The focus at ECHO is to work with each individual and their families to ensure that their needs and aspirations are met by drawing up and implementing personalised support plans.

This involves setting priorities and embracing all aspects of daily living including personal care, managing finances, learning new skills, recreational, educational, volunteering and work-based opportunities, and regular contact with family and friends as well as groups and people in the surrounding community.

Sharena Record, ECHO's regional operations director for the Midlands, said: "This latest development by ECHO will provide a much-needed facility in the heart of the Stafford community that will allow people, who need the care and support we provide, to stay in their local area.

"We are working closely with local commissioners to shape a service that will support the personalised needs of service users to enable them to lead independent, fulfilling lives.

"Our ethos is to encourage people to take control of their lives and believe in their own potential with the aim of creating positive outcomes for all our service users.

"We will start to recruit local people to fill the 20 roles needed to support the new development over this summer.

"There will be a comprehensive training programme for new staff to ensure they have the skills necessary to provide the personalised care that we specialise in at ECHO."

There also will be 17 houses on the Stafford development that will be owned by Wrekin Housing Group
