Francis Brown strengthens position in defence sector with JOSCAR accreditation

26/07/2023

Francis Brown has gained a place on JOSCAR, the Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register, which is the latest in a series of significant industry accreditations.

By achieving JOSCAR accreditation, the fabrication and engineering firm has demonstrated its ability to meet the stringent requirements of purchasers within the defence and aerospace sectors, including BAE Systems, Babcock, Boeing, Leidos, Leonardo QinetiQ, Raytheon, Rolls Royce and Ministry of Defence.

It further strengthens Francis Brown’s position as a trusted and reliable partner within the sector that delivers innovative engineering solutions while meeting stringent industry standards.

The accreditation system was developed by ADS Group (Aerospace, Defence, Security, and Space), aUK trade association advancing leadership in ADS, to standardise supplier accreditation processes within the defence and aerospace industries.

It provides a centralised platform for buyers and suppliers to assess the suitability and capability of potential business partners, streamlining supplier selection and reducing risk.

The rigorous assessment involved a comprehensive evaluation of Francis Brown’s business capabilities, financial health, operational controls, cybersecurity measures, and ethical practices.

The independent Teesside company, which this year marks its 120th anniversary, operates across multiple sectors, including defence, nuclear, chemicals, oil & gas and hydrogen storage applications and other emerging green energy industries.

In addition, it also achieved Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, the scheme’s highest level of certification which involves the rigorous testing of its cyber security systems.

Jamie Brown, CEO of Francis Brown Ltd, said: “Both accreditations signal this company’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality, security, and client satisfaction.

“Francis Brown already operates in the defence sector but JOSCAR is a significant stamp of approval in terms of reliability and quality. It also provides huge opportunities by highlighting our capabilities to the many world-leading businesses which use this accreditation system.”
