A Swinton care centre has held a Home Safari as part of its extensive programme of activities.

The Fountains Care Centre, which is operated by Healthcare Management Solutions, prides itself on ensuring all of its residents are as physically and mentally stimulated as possible.

Huma Anwar, manager of the Fountains Care Centre, which is in Swinton Hall Road, said: “It is widely recognised in the health sector that animal therapy can be very good for health and mental wellbeing.

“Each week we hold a full programme of in-home activities, exciting day trips, and visits from local community groups.

“Our dedicated activities coordinator ensures that all events are planned with the health, ability, and wellbeing of residents in mind with activities tailored to people’s hobbies and interests. We also like to arrange new things for residents to enjoy and experience.

“The Home Safari proved very popular and our residents loved seeing and cuddling a range of different creatures.”

Stan Davidson, a resident at the home, said: “I love animals and it was a lovely way to spend an afternoon.It was certainly an experience as I got to meet animals, I had never got close up to before such as snakes and skunks.”

Set in leafy surroundings next to Victoria Park in Salford, the Fountains Care Centre is a 98-bed care home specialising in residential, nursing and dementia care.

It is rated overall good by the industry watchdog, the Care Quality Commission.
