Boro Taxis is helping an aspiring Teesside actress follow in the footsteps of stars Sarah Parish and Miranda Hart after she was accepted by a leading drama school in London.

Charlotte Sisson, a former Egglescliffe Comprehensive pupil, has won a coveted place on a MA course in Professional Acting at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA).

To help Charlotte achieve her theatrical dreams, Boro Taxis is providing support to help her fund her course and living expenses.

Alumni of ALRA include Sarah Parish, who has starred in TV dramas Atlantis and Cutting It, and comedian and actress Miranda Hart, whose famous roles include her own sitcom, Chummy in Call the Midwife, and Nancy in the film Spy.

Charlotte, who graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) in Performing Arts from Northumbria University, has spent the last two years working with theatre and panto companies, playing the role of Alice in Wonderland in a Jewellery Channel advert as well as producing and starring in her own work.

After this spell of working professionally, the 24-year-old now is ready to go back into training to develop and perfect her craft and explore and reach her full potential.

Mohammed Bashir, founder of Boro Taxis, said: “We have followed Charlotte’s progress as her mum Julie is our administration manager.

“Everyone at Boro Taxis is thrilled that Charlotte has beaten off really stiff competition to secure a place at such a prestigious drama school.

“She is extremely gifted with a great work ethic and deserves to achieve her theatrical goals and Boro Taxis is delighted to play a part in helping her dreams come true.”

Charlotte said: “To work in performing arts is all I’ve ever wanted since I was a little girl and I am very grateful to Boro Taxis for supporting me as I embark on the next stage of my career.

“It is an honour to be accepted on this course as the competition for drama school places is extremely tough – it is even more competitive than that of Oxford and Cambridge. For every 20 people that apply only one is offered a place so I feel very privileged and excited about starting this course.

“Having such respected drama school training on my CV will enhance my employment prospects and my credibility as an actress once I have graduated in December 2016.”

While at University, Charlotte starred in an online interactive drama series TryLife, which soon found more than 100,000 fans on Facebook.

In 2012 she joined the North East-based November Club, which specialises in producing art and performances in unusual settings both indoors and outdoors, on an acting internship. This led to roles in productions including Teacups, Zebras and Dancing Kaisers: Unfolding Wallington.

Charlotte also toured the region as ‘Beauty’ in Beverly Artistes’ Sleeping Beauty before working with the November Club again on Dr Mullins’ Anatomy of the Theatre Royal.
