Uncertainty over foreign holidays and the ever-changing quarantine rules has had one unintended side effect - increasing demand for sparkling clean ovens.

Paul and Andrea Clark, who run oven valeting service Ovenu Warrington, say the summer months are normally less busy as clients jet off to more exotic climes or spend more time barbequing in gardens and yards.

However, this summer has rivalled Christmas in terms of peak bookings as more people chose to remain in the UK, opting for shorter staycations or day trips.

As a result, the husband-and-wife team, from Penketh, say their diary is already booked up a month in advance.

Paul said: “With more people staying at home over summer or taking shorter staycations, their ovens are still getting plenty of use. Our business has seen no let-up in demand since Christmas.”

Andrea added: “People are continuing to spend more time cooking and baking, and as a result having a clean and hygienic oven has become a priority. As we approach autumn, I’d certainly advise clients old and new to book ahead to ensure they can get their oven cleaned.

Ovenu Warrington was recently recognised with a diamond award, by online reviews platform Trustist, for its outstanding client testimonials – after attracting more than 3,500 maximum five-star ratings. In 2018 it received the Essential Guide’s own ‘Shop Local’ award for its commitment to customer service.

Paul and Andrea continue to accept bookings at their discretion, with the stipulation that both parties observe the two-metre social distancing rule, along with guidelines on hygiene and cleanliness.

The valeting process involves dismantling key components and placing them in design-registered tank equipment. Using safe, non-caustic and biodegradable cleaning products, the oven is returned to near showroom condition.
