Pacifica Group secures City & Guilds status for appliance repair training programmes

11/02/2022

Pacifica Group has received a prestigious assurance from City & Guilds for a range of specialist domestic appliance repair training programmes.

Delivered at its dedicated training centre in North East England, the programmes cover the wide range of domestic appliances its engineers repair and maintain across the UK.

With more than 240 domestic appliance engineers operating across the country, Pacifica Group repairs more than 350,000 home appliances every year.

The company works closely with a number of appliance manufacturers such as Electrolux, Sony, Hisense, Vestel, Howdens (Lamona) and LG along with major retailers including, Argos and Shop Direct, and insurance providers to provide repair and maintenance services.

Pacifica Group’s continued investment in the skill of its workforce is part of its commitment to supporting the government’s Right to Repair legislation, which encourages repair over replacement with the aim of reducing the amount of white goods sent to landfill.

City & Guilds has provided assurance of the skills development processes applied by Pacifica Group in the training of its domestic appliance engineers, as well as reviewing the educational value of the programmes.

Its engineers go through comprehensive practical training at the centre as part of their onboarding into the company, followed by regular skills reviews encompassing new technologies and working practices.

Its City & Guilds assured training programmes cover appliances including washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators and freezers as well as ovens, microwaves and cooker hoods.

City & Guilds is a household brand and a global leader in skills development. More than one million people earn a City & Guilds qualification every year, providing them with the skills they need to thrive in the workplace.

In the global economy, the ability to compete depends on building a skilled, competent and confident workforce.

City & Guilds understands the value of portable skills and globally recognised standards that enable people and organisations to succeed. It partners with Governments, employers and educators in more than 50 countries, across five continents, to advise them on developing high-quality skills training that meets the needs of the global workforce, without compromising on local demands.

Vikki Weston, head of human resources at Pacifica Group, who has worked closely with City & Guilds to secure the assurances for the training programmes, said: “Receiving such a prestigious assurance from a globally recognised awarding body is testament to the quality of the training we provide and the skills and competencies of our engineers.

“With the introduction of the Right to Repair legislation we are experiencing an increased demand for our services, which is generating the need to expand our team of engineers. As well as endorsing the capabilities of our engineers, having this assurance from City & Guilds will support our ongoing engineer recruitment programme as we continue to expand our relationships with leading appliance manufacturers, retailers and insurers to support their customers across the UK.”

Dora Timar, Senior Manager: Recognitions and Frameworks, at City & Guilds, said: “We congratulate Pacifica Group for achieving Assured status for its appliance repair training programme, it is a well-deserved recognition for their commitment to the development of its engineers.

“Assured is the global benchmark for a fast-growing number of organisations who all recognise the importance of investing into high quality training to recruit and retain the best talent.

“We are delighted to welcome Pacifica Group among our Assured customers and are very excited to be able to support its expansion plans.”
