Craig y Parc, a school near Cardiff for students living with disabilities has spread a little festive cheer this Christmas time with a generous donation to a local food bank.

The school offers day and residential 38- or 52-week placements for pupils aged 3-19 years with physical and sensory disabilities, complex needs such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy and a wide range of additional learning needs.

The students decided to collect food including boxes of cereals, canned vegetables and fruit and other store cupboard essentials to donate to the Splott food bank in Cardiff.

Staff from the school took two children in the minibus to deliver the food to the volunteers.

Rhianna Solosy, a teacher at Craig y Parc, said: “Everyone was very generous at our harvest collection, and we had about three boxes to take over to the food bank

“We met the volunteers and handed over the food, they were very grateful.

“At Craig y Parc, we think it’s important to teach the students about sharing with others and helping people who are less fortunate, particularly at this time of year.”

Marnie, one of the students from Craig Y Parc, said “It feels good when we give to people who do not have as much as us.”

Craig y Parc is operated by Ambito Care and Education, part of Salutem Care and Education.
