Coniston Court care home in Uckfield has been rated as Good by the Care Quality Commission in its first inspection as part of the Silverlake Care brand.

Coniston Court is registered to provide care and accommodation, including nursing care, providing care for a wide range of care needs such as older persons, and those living with dementia.

The inspector looked at five areas including:

Is the service safe?

Is the service effective?

Is the service caring?

Is the service responsive?

Is the service well-led?

The inspector noted that ‘People were happy with the care they received, felt relaxed with staff and told us they were treated with kindness. They said they felt safe, were well supported and there were enough staff to care for them. Our own observations supported this, and we saw friendly relationships had developed between people and staff.’

The report also stated that ‘People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.’

Comments from relatives and residents included "They [staff] are lovely, they always seem so caring." "They've never said I can't do anything." "They [staff] are all very good to me."
