A father of two has set up his own business repairing domestic appliances, including washing machines and dishwashers, to meet an increase in demand across the West Midlands.

Kris Raymond has launched Home Appliances Repair Team, a domestic appliance repair firm covering Birmingham and surrounding areas, to help people save money and reduce their carbon footprint by extending the lifespan of their domestic appliances.

The 35-year-old has an extensive background in engineering, having started his career at Electrolux as an apprentice and becoming a Gas Safe Registered engineer.

After leaving Electrolux, Kris joined 0800 Repair where he worked for four years.

He will partner with Pacifica via Pacifica Local, joining the UK’s largest white goods repair business, to reach more customers in his area by utilising its client network and industry-leading-technology platform.

A combination of the cost-of-living crisis and people becoming more environmentally aware, as well as manufacturers now being required to make spare parts available for certain appliances to help extend the lifespan of their products, have all fuelled demand for domestic repair experts.

Under current UK law, which came into effect in March 2021, manufacturers are legally required to ensure repair information and spare parts are available for up to 10 years for certain white goods and televisions.

Outside of work, Kris enjoys spending time with his two daughters and is a keen golfer. He also dabbles in property development.

He said: “I am looking forward to this new venture as it means I can meet the growing demand for appliance repairs.

“Demand for repairs is on the increase, particularly given recent government legislation, which has made it a legal requirement for manufacturers to ensure spare parts are available for up to 10 years for certain new appliances. This is a small change, which has had a big impact on the business, and will get bigger.

“Joining Pacifica Local’s network of engineers means I can assist more customers in my area to prolong the life of their appliances.”
