An engineering expert, with over 25 years of experience, has launched his own business to repair household goods, including washing machines and dishwashers, to meet growing demand across Cardiff.

After working with various manufacturers, Jamie Grant decided to address the shortage of repair specialists by setting up Vale Appliance Services, a domestic appliance repair firm covering the Cardiff area.

The father of three boys will also partner with Pacifica Local, the UK’s largest white goods repair business, to reach more customers in his area by utilising Pacifica’s client network and operating on its industry-leading technology platform.

Jamie has a history working for manufacturers including, as a maintenance engineer in a hotel, for Hotpoint. He also worked as an appliance engineer for British Gas for more than a decade.

A combination of the cost-of-living crisis and people becoming more environmentally aware, as well as manufacturers now being required to make spare parts available for certain appliances to help extend the lifespan of their products, have all fuelled demand for domestic repair experts.

Outside of work, Jamie enjoys spending time with his three children and doing bits and bobs around the house.

He said, “The cost-of-living crisis has contributed to more people wanting to watch their pennies, leading to a stark increase in people opting to repair their appliances as opposed to replacing them.

“I’m looking forward to partnering with Pacifica to reach more people who are cost-conscious and looking to be more environmentally friendly.”
