Arqiva goes on the road in East Durham to help viewers

26/01/2022

EAST DURHAM: Arqiva, the company which operates Bilsdale TV Mast, today unveiled its latest way of helping people in East Durham whose TV signal may be affected when a new, interim mast is switched on next month.

The TV Signal Help Team will tour the area in a customised vehicle, providing support and advice to residents.

Last week Arqiva announced the switch to a new, interim, 80-metre mast at Bilsdale which will improve the signal for more than 100,000 people and be more robust in bad weather.

An estimated 1,250 households - primarily along the Durham coast - will be within a “signal shadow” caused by the location of the interim mast, and will unfortunately lose their service next month.

The company has written to those homes affected and now needs them to make contact so that – if required – engineers can repoint their aerials free of charge and make sure they continue to receive a TV signal.

Residents should ring 0800 121 4828, or go to bilsdalemast.co.uk/repointing

As part of its Project Restore information campaign, a team from Arqiva will be visiting areas across East Durham and parking at several locations to offer help to residents.
