Bannatyne health clubs raise almost £40,000 for children’s charity Barnardo’s, in collaboration with Sony Pictures’ GRAN TURISMO: BASED ON A TRUE STORY

06/09/2023

Bannatyne health clubs across the country, in collaboration with Sony Pictures' upcoming sports action movie GRAN TURISMO: BASED ON A TRUE STORY, raised £39,440.90 for the children’s charity Barnardo’s.

To celebrate the summer release of GRAN TURISMO: BASED ON A TRUE STORY, Bannatyne launched an exciting "100 Mile Challenge" in collaboration with the upcoming racing film. The challenge, which took place from July 1st, engaged Bannatyne's members in a dynamic and exhilarating pursuit to complete 100 miles over a two-month period within their health club. This achievement is equivalent to 28 laps around the thrilling racetracks featured in GRAN TURISMO: BASED ON A TRUE STORY.

Participants were encouraged to embrace various physical activities such as walking, running, cycling, rowing, or swimming to undertake the challenge target. The initiative aimed to not only inspire a sense of accomplishment among the participants but also to support a worthy cause. Friends and family were invited to sponsor the participants via the dedicated Barnardo's charity JustGiving link, raising an impressive £xxx for the charity.

Every participant who successfully completed the challenge received 10 entries into a prize draw. The grand prize is an adrenaline-pumping trip to Dubai, providing the winner with a high-octane experience to remember.

Gran Turismo is based on the unbelievable true story of a team of unlikely underdogs – a struggling working-class gamer, a failed former racecar driver, and an idealistic motorsport executive. Together, they risk it all to take on the most elite sport in the world. Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story is an inspiring, thrilling, and action-packed story that proves that nothing is impossible when you’re fueled from within.

This initiative builds on Bannatyne's successful collaboration with Sony Pictures following its collaboration with the film "Uncharted" last year.

Barnardo’s provides vital support to the children and families who need them most, to help with a range of issues including mental health, child sexual abuse and children in care. The charity listens to children and young people and works to bring about positive change so that they can have a brighter future.

Duncan Bannatyne, Chief Executive and Chairman at the Bannatyne Group, expressed his thoughts on the collaboration: "We are thrilled to team up with Sony Pictures' GRAN TURISMO and support Barnardo's in their mission to safeguard children's well-being. This association resonates with Bannatyne's core values of promoting well-being, determination, and community support.”
