EDINBURGH CHEF WINS FIVE-STAR HOLIDAY IN SUNNY CYPRUS

03/05/2022

Chef Ruth Newall couldn’t believe her luck when she learnt she had won a Bannatyne health club competition to win a holiday abroad.

The 37-year-old will be jetting off to sunny Cyprus for a luxury holiday this summer as the winner of Bannatyne’s Refer a Friend scheme.

Ruth, who has been a member of Bannatyne health club Edinburgh since last October, will be accompanied by her daughter Emilia, 11, and friend Emma Fife.

She said: “Even though the holiday now is booked I can still hardly believe it as I never win anything.

“When I got the phone call to tell me I had won I thought it was a friend playing a trick at first.

“To win such a fabulous prize would have been fantastic at any time, but after being so restricted in getting out and about, and in particular not being able to go abroad for a break during the pandemic lockdowns makes it even better.”

Ruth visits the health club and spa, which is in Queen Street, regularly and her favourite keep fit activity is swimming in the pool followed by a relaxing spell in the steam room.

Her holiday prize is a five-star Indulgent Escape seven-night break, including flights, on a bed and breakfast basis at the Elysium Hotel in Paphos, courtesy of Jet2 Holidays.

She said: “We are really looking forward to getting away and enjoying the sunshine.

“We plan to relax by the pool as well as going on a few trips to explore the area and visit a waterpark. “

Rachel Wrightson, general manager at the Bannatyne health club and spa Edinburgh, said: “Congratulations to Ruth.

“We hope she has a well-deserved break that gives her, her daughter and friend the chance to unwind and experience some of the sights and culture in and around Paphos.

“We can’t wait to see her holiday snaps and hearing all about the trip.

“We thank her for being a valued member at Bannatyne Health Club and Spa Edinburgh and for recommending us to her friend Colin McArthur, whom we are looking forward to welcoming to the club.”
