Leeds Health Club Manager Completes Seven Ultra Marathons in Seven days Raising Over £2K

26/03/2024

The general manager of a Leeds health club has run seven ultra marathons in seven days to raise money for research into Crohn’s and Colitis.

The 320km challenge started from Bannatyne Cardigan Fields Leeds health club on Kirkstall Road on Sunday 10 March, with Kevin Easley, its manager, pushing through each gruelling day, fuelled by determination and the support of the Bannatyne community. After a week of relentless effort, Kevin completed his final run at the Bannatyne Health Club and Spa York, greeted by cheers and applause from members, colleagues, and his loved ones.

Kevin's journey was deeply personal, rooted in his own battle with Ulcerative Colitis, as well as witnessing his sister and nephew confront Crohn's. He said, “Crohn's and Colitis UK is a cause close to my heart, and this challenge is my way of giving back and supporting the invaluable work of the charity.

“It was an absolutely gruelling week, every step felt like a battle as I have a stoma bag, but knowing that I was making a difference to others affected by Crohn’s and Colitis really kept me going. I’m looking forward to a few days rest!

"The outpouring of encouragement from everyone at the Cardigan Fields and York clubs, as well as from head office, the charity and my family, has been truly humbling. Their belief in me, even when the challenge seemed daunting, really motivated me. Their support has been the fuel that kept me moving forward, step by step.”

Duncan Bannatyne, chairman and chief executive of The Bannatyne Group, said, "Kevin's triumph in completing seven ultra marathons in seven days is nothing short of extraordinary. His unwavering dedication and perseverance have not only inspired us all but also brought invaluable attention to Crohn’s and Colitis. We are immensely proud of his achievement and grateful for the positive impact he has made."
