CQC PRAISE FOR NEWCASTLE CARE HOME

20/02/2023

Ashton Court care home in Newcastle has been praised by the Care Quality Commission for the quality of its care provision.

The service, based on West Road, was rated as ‘Good’ overall and for safety, effectiveness and leadership.

Following the unannounced inspection the report noted that ‘People and their relatives were very positive about the care provided. People told us they felt safe and staff had the skills to support them.’

It also acknowledged that ‘Staff ensured people living at the home were happy. Staff promoted people’s independence, their passions and personal interests.’ The inspector found that ‘People were safeguarded from abuse’ and ‘People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.’

Ashton Court manager Val Mcloughlin said: “I am proud of the whole team at Ashton Court. To continue with our ‘Good’ rating is a great achievement and one which comes with a lot of commitment from everyone.”

Steve Massey, operations manager at North East-based Solehawk, which operates Ashton Court, said: “This report is testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team at Ashton Court.

“Providing the best quality of care and support is at the heart of everything we do and it is obvious that Ashton court is achieving this and enabling residents to live as independent and fulfilling lives as possible.”

Ashton Court is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care for up to 42 people. It provides support to older people, some of whom live with dementia.
