DONEGAL FIRM JOINS ENGINEER NETWORK

25/11/2021

TDA Ireland has joined the engineer network of UK washing machine manufacturer Ebac as the exclusive partner for County Donegal, helping bring back the local touch to whitegoods repair.

Ebac has launched the local engineer network to support its seven-year warranty promise – the longest of any washing machine on the market. Each region has an appointed engineer who is based in the area and is supplied with a catalogue of spares by Ebac to ensure it can meet its promise to resolve 99% of issues within 72 hours of contact.

As part of the launch of the 50 person-strong engineer network, Barry Temple, owner of TDA Ireland, visited Ebac’s factory in North East England to receive extensive training on its full range of machines.

Before the decline of the high street, many towns had an electrical repair shop, which was often family-owned. The network was launched by Ebac to provide customers with a personal touch that it felt was lost as electronic superstores, with offshore centralised call centres and online repair support, came to dominate the market.

Barry Temple, owner of TDA Ireland, said: “I’m delighted to have joined Ebac’s engineer network. Its seven-year warranty shows that it has real confidence in the quality of its machines. I love the traceability of it too; I’ve visited the factory and know its machines are made under fair and safe conditions, something you can’t always be sure of when buying a machine made abroad.

“Ebac and I agree that local engineers can provide a more consistent service and a quicker turnaround than large corporate companies. And unlike other repair servicew, Ebac has given all of its engineers quality training, and all the parts we may need – this means we can get machines back up and running without multiple visits or waiting weeks for spares to arrive.

“Washing machines are the workhorse of the home, and families especially can experience some real difficulties without a working machine.”

Andrew Hobson, director at Ebac, said: “We’re very pleased to have TDA Ireland joining our network of engineers. Having a local voice and face makes a huge difference to customers.

“There is nothing more frustrating than sitting in a call queue for ages, booking a visit with an engineer, only to have them say they’ll have to come back days later. Our products are designed to be reliable, but we recognise that occasionally problems will arise.

“Our customers are not just a number. They are part of our Ebac family, so we want to look after them and make sure they receive the best possible service throughout the life of their product with partners like TDA Ireland – that’s why we’re bringing back good local support for our customers.”
