Mark Quarmby has been appointed as Registered Service Manager at Malsis Hall, the Glusburn-based service, which specialises in supporting people with complex mental health conditions.

Prior to qualifying as a nurse, Mark served in the Army for almost ten years. He has gained considerable experience through both clinical and managerial positions in rehabilitation and secure service settings including the NHS, MHA and Inmind.

He has completed several post graduate qualifications in cognitive behavioural therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy and has a special interest in trauma therapies.

Mark has spent the last four years working in the social care sector, primarily for a national charity.

Former Service Manager Lisa Gardner will remain part-time at Malsis Hall, taking on the role of Customer Relationship Manager.

Mark Quarmby said: “I am very pleased to have the opportunity to manage Malsis Hall, a multi-faceted service that aims to provide service users with a clear care pathway back into the community.

“I have a strong belief that service user involvement and therapeutic activity can often be a key factor for recovery and that services that are shaped by the active feedback of the people using them are successful in delivering the best outcomes.

“This ethos is shared by the team at Malsis Hall and I look forward to building on the fantastic work being done here to support patients and service users to live fulfilling and independent lives.”

Andrew Shelton-Murray, chief executive officer at Malsis Hall, said: “Mark has the right mix of skills and knowledge to continue the development of Malsis Hall started by Lisa.

“His managerial experience will be invaluable and his passion for providing great care and support and excellent outcomes is evident. I am confident he will prove to be an excellent appointment.

“I am delighted that Lisa will still be part of Malsis Hall, she has done an excellent job since it opened and I thank her for her hard work.”

Malsis Hall is a refurbished country house and estate that provides a care home with nursing as well as a care home without nursing. There is also a purpose-built hospital on site, along with more independent studio apartments. This provides a clear care pathway and gives living and support options to match patient need, whilst enabling the individual to safely live in the least restrictive environment possible.

As a community project, it also contains three sports pitches, a sports pavilion and meeting rooms available to members of the public.
