Fulcrum

Experienced engineer to lead complex electrical engineering division

24/06/2022

Fulcrum, the leading independent net-zero focused multi-utility infrastructure and services provider, has announced the promotion of Stuart Weatherston to Divisional Director of its complex electrical engineering division, Dunamis and its sister company Maintech.

Stuart, who has been with Dunamis as Operations Director for more than three years, will be focused on the safe and efficient delivery of its Independent Connect Provider (ICP) activities, Maintech’s specialist electrical maintenance services and large projects up to 132kV.

From its base in Bury St Edmunds, where it has a team of more than 65, Stuart will lead Dunamis’ continued growth strategy for the provision of its highly specialist electrical design services and high voltage electrical infrastructure capabilities.

Its bespoke capabilities, which are all designed, delivered and project managed by the in-house team of electricity specialists, are utilised for the construction and maintenance of facilities such as large-scale battery storage facilities, infrastructure for solar farms and wind farms.

Stuart said: “I am very proud to take on this new role at a very exciting time for the business. Fulcrum, including Dunamis and Maintech, are incredibly well-placed to provide the infrastructure that will enable the UK to use more renewably generated electricity and support the journey to net zero.

“We are part of a very dynamic industry, contributing to the UK’s energy security and achieving net zero. Dunamis is one of the most experienced, and one of only a small number of companies with the capabilities to deliver highly complex electrical engineering projects.

“As a result, we are seeing growing demand for our capabilities at the power generation end of the market with support for the construction and maintenance of battery storage, wind and solar farms.

“This is also presenting opportunities to grow and develop our team. Effective succession planning is so important in a sector where talented people are very much in demand, so we will continue to recruit the best people, but will also nurture our own.”

Antony Collins, CEO of Fulcrum, said: “Stuart is a prime example of the highly skilled and experienced people we have at Fulcrum, who not only contribute to the success of the Group, but also help to attract and develop other talented people to the business.

“Dunamis and Maintech are integral divisions within the Group and Stuart is well-placed to lead our specialist electrical engineering operations, which are very well regarded throughout the UK and contribute to some very important projects that are part of the journey to net-zero.”
