Fulcrum has secured a £1.5m contract from Dandara Living to design, build and install new multi-utility infrastructure for a significant build to rent residential development.

Sleepers Cross in Luton will create 345 new apartments across four blocks of up to 18 storeys and Fulcrum will provide electricity and water connections to the development.

The three-year project will commence in May 2024 and will be delivered by a team of up to 20 directly employed Fulcrum engineers, who will design and install 1.4km of electricity infrastructure, through the centre of Luton to the development.

The company will also complete High Voltage connections to two substations, also supplied by Fulcrum, which will power the development’s apartment buildings and various resident amenities.

Additionally, Fulcrum will deliver a 500kVA Temporary Builders Supply (TBS) to support the development during construction.

Importantly, Fulcrum has already used its expertise to accelerate the energising of the site by three years, helping Dandara Living overcome the South of England’s electricity capacity issues.

Utilising its extensive multi-utility experience, Fulcrum worked closely with the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) to identify an alternative connection point and off-site route to the site, bringing the development’s connection date forward from 2028 to 2025.

Sleepers Cross will be the second collaboration between Dandara Living and Fulcrum.

It follows on from the 391-apartment Renshaw’s Yard project in Staines, Surrey, where Fulcrum is also delivering new electricity and water utility infrastructure.
