The annual summer fair has taken place at Riverside House care home in Morpeth with Mayor of Morpeth, Councillor Alison Byard opening the event.

During the day, local traders sold a variety of products, ranging from homemade jewellery to cake and candles. The Explorer Scouts also had two stalls, raising money for their trip to World Jamboree in South Korea next year.

After the opening from the Mayor, Morpeth pipe band started off the proceedings, welcoming guests with the sounds of Scotland.

Community members of all ages came to Riverside House with children enjoying a bouncy castle and animal farm. Stalls were occupied by Age UK Northumberland and Morpeth charity Contact Mental Health who were spreading the word about their important work for the local community.

Throughout the day, residents were kept busy as they worked with staff members on stalls, providing excellent customer service for the locals who came along.

Richard Dobinson, activities co-ordinator at Riverside House, said: “The response we received from the community was amazing. It was great to see our residents enjoying being with family and friends and they are already looking forward to next year’s fair!

“We have received many donations from local businesses and are very grateful for the support they provide for all our residents.”

Mayor Alison Byard said: “It was great to see so many people from the local community down at Riverside House for the Summer Fair. I thoroughly enjoyed speaking to residents and guests, hearing about all the great work they get up to in the community.”

Riverside House specialise in dementia care and received a GOOD rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
