09/11/2022

A Surrey care home manager has been shortlisted for three prestigious industry awards.

Abdul Rifai, who manages Dungate Manor, was a finalist for Registered Manager of the Year in the recent Leaders in Care Awards.

He is also shortlisted in the Care Employee of the Year category at the Caring UK Awards, where the Reigate care home also is shortlisted for the Care Team of the Year.

Dungate Manor and Adbul are also in the running for the Care Home Team Award and the Care Home Manager Award at the Great British Care Awards South East.

The nominees in these highly regarded awards are recognised for their pursuit of excellence in driving a caring culture at their care home and being an outstanding leader to staff.

One testimonial from a resident’s son-in-law says: “Dungate Manor is a five-star care home.”

He adds: “They take time to fully understand each resident’s personal needs. They focus on maintaining dignity, supporting everyone’s physical and mental health and always with compassion and a smile on their faces.”

Tony Stein, Chief Executive of Larchwood Care, said: “Abdul is a dedicated and caring individual, who ensures that residents at Dungate feel safe, secure, and are extremely well-looked after.

“Abdul regards Dungate Manor as a community, with an emphasis on providing person-centred care, catering for an individual’s needs and wishes, and helping them lead as a fulfilling and independent life as possible.

“His outstanding and caring contribution to the Dungate Manor family makes him a well-deserved finalist for these awards

“He has an exceptional ability to motivate and inspire staff across the board and this is demonstrated by the two awards the home itself is shortlisted for. Well done everyone at Dungate Manor, you are a credit to the profession.”

Abdul said: “It is a real honour to be shortlisted for these industry-wide recognised accolades but I am more delighted for the awards the whole team has been shortlisted for.

“Dungate Manor could not be the quality of home that it is without the hard work, professionalism and dedication of the entire team, who all play a part in making it such a special place.”

Dungate Manor, in Flanchford Road looks after elderly people with physical frailties and those with mental health issues such as dementia.

It has been named one of the top 20 Care Homes in the South East by Carehome.co.uk based on reviews by its residents and their families.

The home is rated as good by the industry regulator, the Care Quality Commission, which assesses elements including safety, effectiveness, standards of care, responsiveness, and how well-led it is.
