Residents at a Cambridgeshire care home have been showing I’m a Celebrity contestants how it should be done.

People living at Dove Court in Wisbech have got close up and personal with a whole bunch of critters thanks to a visit by Zoolab.

Nicole Thompson, manager of the Kirkgate Street care home, said: “Our residents have been showing the celebrities in the jungle how it’s done.

“They didn’t bat an eye lid when they came face to face with a host of reptiles and giant spiders.”

She added: “Before the pandemic our Dove Court family enjoyed regular visits from Zoolab and this was a very welcome return of these different, but brilliant, pet therapy sessions.

“This visit reflects the vibrant and extensive activities programme we have here to suit the residents wide-ranging interests and hobbies.

“The focus is on mental and physical well-being by promoting active minds and bodies and encouraging interaction and social contact.”

Dove Court, which has 76 ensuite rooms, specialises in providing compassionate and professional support to those needing dementia, long-term residential or temporary respite care.

It has been rated good by the industry regulator, the Care Quality Commission, which assesses homes on their safety, standards of care and management, effectiveness and responsiveness.
