A father-and-son business duo have teamed up to raise funds for children’s charity, the Little Princess Trust.

Adam Penniston, who runs oven valeting service Ovenu Wokingham, and son Ryan, who operates Ovenu Maidenhead and Ovenu Bracknell, have set a target of £2,000 to support the Trust that provides free real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair due to cancer.

The pair, who were forced to cancel their original charity fun day in 2020 due to the pandemic, are holding it at Adam’s home in Wokingham on Saturday 19^th August.

Billed as a community event, it features a BBQ, refreshments, raffles, children’s games and a quiz. Among the many prizes donated for the raffle are a £300 Dyson hairdryer, a £100 Sony speaker, a £75 James Martin food processor, and £60 worth of Top Golf vouchers.

The pair have previously raised money for the Anthony Nolan Trust, together with an oral cancer charity.

Adam Penniston, who is one of Ovenu’s longest serving franchisees, said: “We were inspired to hold this fundraiser following the cancer diagnosis involving a close friend of the family.

“We wanted to do something positive and give something back to a charity which makes such a difference to young people in such difficult circumstances.”

His son Ryan added: “We want to make this a real community event bringing everyone together to raise as much money as possible. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has generously donated so far.”

Rik Hellewell, founder and managing director of Wokingham-headquartered Ovenu, said: “Adam and Ryan are demonstrating their commitment to giving back to the community and making a positive impact in the lives of children and young people affected by cancer. I wish them every success.”
