Moorgate care village, which has three care homes on its site in Rotherham, is celebrating success after being recognised for two prestigious accolades.

Moorgate Croft, which has the capacity to support up to 31 elderly residents, has recently become one of the first services in the country to achieve the British Standard for Adult Residential Care – BS8606:2019.

It was inspected by Care Inspections UK, the UK’s only registered and accredited care home inspection body and was awarded a certificate of compliance.

A second home on the site, Moorgate Hollow, has been rated as one of the top 20 care homes in Yorkshire and The Humber on review site Carehome.co.uk for the third consecutive year.

The ranking is based on scores compiled from reviews from residents and their family and friends.

Chris Lane, a director at Park Lane Healthcare, which operates the care village said: “We’re delighted that the Moorgate services are doing so well in terms of resident and family reviews and objective, independent assessment.

“All three services are rated good by the Care Quality Commission and have high ratings on Carehome.co.uk. It is a testament to the hard work of the staff, particularly the managers, that these excellent standards are maintained year after year.

“I am particularly proud that Moorgate Croft has become one of the first services in the UK to be recognised as compliant with BS8606:2019. Our standards are an essential part of the care we give, and to be independently accredited against this demonstrates how seriously we take this at all levels within our organisation.”

Kevin Groombridge, chief executive of Care Inspections UK, said: “Maintaining excellent standards is key to homes providing safe and appropriate care to its residents. The team at Moorgate Croft were welcoming to our inspectors, demonstrated the standards required to attain BS8606:2019, and took on board any constructive feedback we provided.

“We hope to return to the site soon to look at accreditation for Moorgate Lodge and Moorgate Hollow.”
