PETERLEE CARE HOME PRAISED BY THE CARE QUALITY COMMISSION

07/11/2022

Peterlee Care Home, based on the town’s Westcott Road, has been praised by the regulator for the quality of care provided.

The home was rated ‘Good’ following a recent inspection in five key areas – is the service safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led?

The report noted that ‘People and their relatives were very positive about the care provided. People told us they felt safe and staff had the skills to support them.’

It also stated that People were supported by staff who were competent and had received appropriate training and support’ and ‘People confirmed staff provided kind and compassionate care.’

The inspector observed that ‘People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.’

Home manager Kayleigh Solomon was praised for promoting ‘a positive staff culture which helped achieve good outcomes for people.’ One staff member said ‘I enjoy working here, the staff really look after each other.’

Steve Massey, operations manager at Popular Care, which operates Peterlee Care Home, said: “This report is testament to the hard work and dedication of Kayleigh and her team at Peterlee Care Home.

“Providing the best quality of care and support is obviously their absolute priority and the inspection shows that they are achieving this and the best possible outcomes for residents.”

Peterlee Care Home is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care for up to 44 people.
