Wilton House care home in Darlington was delighted to host the 100th birthday celebration of one of its residents, Cora Reeves. The centenarian's milestone was marked with a special celebration, surrounded by friends and staff.

Born in Stanley, County Durham, Cora has lived at Wilton House for more than six years. Her life's journey includes a rich tapestry of experiences, from her days as a hat maker to her vital role as an air raid warden during the war, complete with a special hat that became a symbol of her dedication and spirit.

Cora's 100 years have been filled with love and adventure, including her marriage to Derrick and raising two children, Alistair and Lesley, who now live in Germany and Australia, respectively. Her love for singing and active participation in various activities at Wilton House has made her an inspiration to all.

The care home, known for its personalised approach to care, ensures that each resident's unique needs and views are respectfully catered to. This ethos aligns perfectly with Cora's vibrant personality and varied interests.

On this joyous occasion, Emma Hardy, the Home Manager at Wilton House, shared her thoughts: "Cora's centenary is a testament to her incredible zest for life and the close-knit community we foster here at Wilton House. Her stories, especially those from her time as an air raid warden, have been a source of fascination and inspiration for us all. We are privileged to celebrate this remarkable milestone with her."
