MIDDLESBROUGH MAYOR JOINS AWARD-NOMINATED NURSERY TO DELIVER CARE HOME HAMPER

Children from Rosedene Easterside have been joined by Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston and local councillor Tony Grainge to deliver a hamper of goodies to nearby nursing home, Tollesby Hall.
The nursery, based at St. Thomas More School in Middlesbrough, is a finalist for the Community Nursery of the Year Award in the 2021 National NMT Nursery Awards.
The Mayor met children and staff at the nursery, was given a tour of the setting before accompanying the children to Tollesby Hall, to deliver the hamper.
Rosedene plays an integral part in the community, including involvement in community litter picks, charity fundraising for local and national charities, and participating in intergenerational activities with care homes.
Gemma Brown, manager at Rosedene Easterside said: “We were delighted to welcome Mayor Preston and Councillor Grainge to Easterside to come with us to Tollesby Hallto deliver a hamper of treats.
“They also met some of the children and saw how we use the ‘curiosity approach’ to help them learn through play and had a tour of our facilities. Councillor Grainge is also one of our parents, so he is already part of the Rosedene family.
“At Rosedene, relationships with our local community and our parents are at the heart of everything we do. We’re thrilled to be finalists in the award and are very pleased the mayor wanted to come and see what we’re all about.”
Andy Preston, Mayor of Middlesbrough, said: “The kids are motivated, excited, learning, getting involved and socialising, which is so important when you’re very young, so I’ve been really impressed.
“Rosedene has been nominated, and down to the final five for a national award so I’m really hoping they bring that trophy back to Middlesbrough and show the world the fantastic things that happen here.”
Rosedene Easterside is an OFSTED Good rated setting.
