Nursery Children get stuck into North Yorkshire Farm Life!
Children from Rosedene Egglescliffe and Rosedene Northallerton nurseries jumped into their wellies and overalls to understand a day in the life at Blackberry Farm.
For many of the children, this was a first-time experience, interacting with a variety of animals including alpacas, donkeys, horses, chickens, geese, lambs and goats.
The group of enthusiastic two to four-year olds had the opportunity to bottle feed newborn lambs, find eggs from the poultry and take-part in the daily activities that make the farm operate.
These unique and hands-on experiences not only left the children bursting with excitement but were also an important step in the children’s development. Engaging with these farm animals enhances children’s language, motor and sensory skills, in addition to sparking curiosity.
With a commitment to outdoor learning, Rosedene Nurseries recognises the importance of child development outside the classroom and has embarked on a variety of projects, which includes the nursery group’s forest and beach ethos. The 10 Rosedene nurseries offer all children regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or coastal environment.
Jodie Hutchinson, manager at Rosedene Egglescliffe said: “The trip to the farm was such an enjoyable experience for the children, which has promoted key values of kindness and respect.
“We are always trying to provide children with an insight into the world around them that they can take back to the nursery and other parts of their life.”
Alice McCullagh, managing director at Rosedene Nurseries said: “Outdoor learning is such an integral part of child development at Rosedene.
“Trips like this encourage our children to ask questions, nurture their curiosity, and meaningfully interact with their environment.”
