16-Year-Old triumphs over adversity with GCSE Maths qualification through Salutem Care and Education's Chiron OEP – online education provider

19/09/2023

In a major achievement that sheds light on the endless possibilities of online education, a 16-year-old girl, who was once completely disengaged from learning due to her social anxiety, has successfully secured a grade 4 in her GCSE Maths.

The young student had been under the care and guidance of Salutem Care and Education's Chiron Online Education Provider (OEP) for just over three months between February and May.

Her success story is a remarkable testament to the dedication and commitment of the Chiron OEP team and the innovative online education model they have developed.

Prior to joining Chiron OEP, the young achiever had faced overwhelming challenges, including a hiatus in formal education of nearly a year. Her journey since 2020 had been fraught with sporadic attendance and lost educational opportunities. Living in residential care, the conventional schooling system had become an insurmountable obstacle due to her severe social anxiety.

However, the unwavering support from the managers at the residential home, combined with the seamless integration of Chiron OEP's programme and her school, turned things around. Not only was she able to study for the exam in a safe and comfortable environment, but she was also provided with individualised arrangements to ensure her comfort on exam day. From online meetings with invigilators to site visits ensuring a stress-free path to her exam room, every detail was meticulously planned.

Ayesha Allen, Online School Head at Salutem Care and Education, shared her thoughts on this achievement: "This success story is more than just a testament to the potential of online education. It's a beacon of hope for countless young individuals who, for reasons beyond their control, find themselves alienated from mainstream schools.

“At Chiron OEP, we are committed to reintegrating these students, tailoring lessons to their needs, and ensuring they are not left behind. Every child deserves an opportunity to shine, and we're here to make that possible."

The student’s journey doesn't end here. She will be sitting her GCSE English this Autumn and has her sights set on a vocational hair and beauty course in college next September.

For many youngsters facing challenges in mainstream education, Chiron OEP stands as a shining light. Offering specialised, small classes that focus on core subjects like Maths, English, and the arts, Chiron OEP's mission is clear: reintegrate, educate, and foster growth.
