Cheam care worker wins prestigious award at the Great British Care Awards

12/12/2023

Jodie Trenoweth, a senior support worker at The Cherry Tree in Cheam, Surrey, part of Salutem Care and Education, has been honoured with a significant achievement, winning in the Support Worker Category at the Great British Care Awards London region.

This regional recognition means Jodie will now progress to the final of the national awards in March 2024.

The Cherry Tree, a four-bed residential care home in Surrey, specialises in supporting adults with autism and challenging behaviours. The facility focuses on promoting a happy and active lifestyle for its residents, helping them achieve their personal goals and aspirations.

Jodie's contribution to this nurturing environment has been vital since she rejoined the team in 2015 after a brief tenure with the Metropolitan Police Service as a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO).

Jodie's journey with The Cherry Tree began in 2008. After leaving in 2012 and returning in 2015, post-maternity, she has consistently demonstrated her commitment and exceptional skills in her role. Her dedication is not just to the residents but also to her colleagues, offering unwavering support and insight.

Nikki Miller, manager at The Cherry Tree, expressed her admiration and support: "Jodie deserves this award as recognition for everything she does. She always goes over and above in her role, constantly thinking about our individuals and how we can enhance their lives. Jodie is also a pillar of support for both me and our staff team."

John Godden, chief executive of Salutem Care and Education, also extended his congratulations: "Jodie's achievement at the Great British Care Awards is a testament to her exceptional dedication and the positive impact she makes every day. She exemplifies the values and commitment we cherish at Salutem, and we are incredibly proud of her."

Jodie's win at the regional level of the Great British Care Awards not only celebrates her individual excellence but also highlights the importance of support work in the care sector. As she progresses to the national awards, she carries with her the pride and support of The Cherry Tree and the entire Salutem Care and Education community.
