Megan Butler, a support worker for Salutem Care and Education based in Nottingham, has been named as the winner of The Care Home Newcomer Award in the Great British Care Awards for the East Midlands.

Megan joined The Ark (East Midlands Community Services) in 2017, prior to which she was a community carer.

The Ark provides support at home, in the community and supported living to children, young people and adults with additional needs within Nottinghamshire.

Along with the rest of her team, Megan supports individuals with a range of physical disabilities, learning disabilities and complex health needs, to live independent and fulfilling lives.

The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of excellence across the care sector. The awards pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding work within their field.

Upon receiving the award, Megan said: “I was so surprised to have even been nominated, let alone to win, and I’m so proud.

This means so much to me - we really are a family, and this shows that. We’re always supporting each other and lifting each other up.

“I don’t even know who nominated me, but I wish I did so that I could thank them!"

Megan will be invited to attend the national finals of the Great British Care Awards in March.

John Godden MBE, CEO of Salutem Care and Education, said: “On behalf of the whole Salutem family, I’d like to congratulate Megan for this extraordinary recognition.

“The care sector thrives on nurturing and developing new talent, and Megan is clearly a rising star that we’re developing at The Ark. I look forward to all the great things she’ll achieve in the future.”
