Karen Jackson, Divisional Director Children at Salutem Care and Education, has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement award at the distinguished National Children and Young People Awards.

This accolade recognises individuals who have shown a long-standing commitment and made an outstanding contribution to improving the lives of vulnerable children, young people, and families throughout their careers.

With an illustrious career spanning more than 25 years, Karen has carved a niche for herself in the realm of care services for both children and adults. Her leadership at Salutem Care and Education embodies the very essence of compassion and effectiveness.

Karen's visionary approach in reshaping the children's division recruitment strategy stands as a testament to her dedication. This unique approach ensures that children themselves play an integral role in the recruitment process, guaranteeing that only those truly aligned with the organisation's values become part of the team.

The Childrens residential sector at Salutem has thrived under Karen's watchful eye. Her focus on reflective practice, coupled with a robust continuous development programme, has been instrumental in nurturing future managers and staff. This has in turn played a pivotal role in positively impacting the lives of countless children and young people.

Furthermore, in collaboration with Dr Asha Patel of Innovating Minds, Karen introduced a transformative trauma-informed training programme. This initiative has brought about significant change in addressing the emotional needs of children affected by trauma, especially domestic abuse. Karen's dedication extends further, ensuring that carers are also equipped with the necessary tools to provide unwavering support to these young people.

One of Karen's most commendable contributions to the care sector is driving forward Salutem’s innovative Core and Cluster model. Tailored to meet specific learning disability, emotional, behavioural, and educational needs, this model ensures that every child and young person under Salutem's care receives the continuum of care and support they deserve.
