Salutem

Major investment in new Worcester supported living service

19/02/2024

Salutem Care and Education, a leading provider of care and support services, has opened its latest development in supported living, Primrose, located in Worcester.

Salutem worked in partnership with Worcestershire County Council, Warwick Investments and Westmoreland Supported Housing, following its successful award as the care provider, following a competitive tender process led by Worcestershire County Council.

Primrose is a four-bed supported living service designed to meet the needs of young people with social care needs, who are transitioning from children’s and educational services.

Supported living enables people who may have care and support needs, to have choice and control of their home and support. The on-site team provides comprehensive assistance in all aspects of their lives, including support to enable individuals to manage their tenancy, personal care, education or employment opportunities, bill payments, shopping, cooking, and organising memorable experiences like concerts and theatre outings.

Primrose is the latest addition to Salutem’s growing portfolio of supported living services across the UK. It strives to create inclusive environments where individuals can thrive and are empowered to make choices and decisions about how and where they live their lives.

Sally Jobling, Divisional Director – Supported Living at Salutem Care and Education said: “Primrose is the latest offer from Salutem in our mission to provide high quality, person-centred supported living services. Primrose is another great example of true co-production in action.

“It has enabled four young adults to have the key to their own front door, in a home that has been designed specifically to meet their needs. Salutem is privileged to offer care and support to the individuals as they continue to work towards greater independence. By holding their own tenancy, they are empowered to make decisions about their own lives, whilst receiving support from Salutem to achieve personal goals.”

Adam Jones, Commissioner at WCC said: “Worcestershire County Council has a policy of developing high quality supported living services for young adults with learning disabilities and Primrose is another great example of our commitment to citizens of Worcestershire. The development of Primrose will enable 4 people who have completed their education, to move on from a residential college setting and continue to develop their independence with support from Salutem, who have been appointed as the Care Provider, following a tender process.

“Worcestershire County Council have worked in partnership with Sally, Kathie, John and Charlotte from Salutem during the development stages and transition process and their commitment to the delivery of person-centred care and support to the individuals has been evident throughout; this is an excellent example of what Worcestershire County Council have come to expect from our supported living providers.

“I am sure that the four will be happy within their new home, with care and support provided by Salutem.”
