Salutem Care and Education has opened a new supported living location in Kidderminster as part of its commitment to transition individuals from residential care to independent living.

The accommodation, which provides five tenancies for adults with complex disabilities has been built in partnership with Worcestershire County Council, Inclusion Housing and Warwick Investments.

After several months of planning and working closely with the new tenants, Comberton Road has been purpose-designed to maximise independence for its new residents, all of whom have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and mental health needs.

The installation of assistive technology at Comberton Road enables individuals to live more independently, offering them the opportunity to have more choice and control over their lives.

Sally Jobling, Divisional Director at Salutem said: “I am delighted with this initiative, which has been co-produced with the individuals we support and with the true principles of Supported Living.

“With the new tenants desiring a vegetable patch, Inclusion Housing have kindly offered the opportunity for tenants to apply for a grant from Inclusion’s Homelife fund.

“We look forward to working closely with our partners in the future and providing the opportunity for more adults to transition from residential care services into their own home.”
