Salutem Care and Education elevates care standards with refurbished children's home in Essex

14/08/2023

Salutem Care and Education, a leading provider of care services for children and young people, has made a significant investment in the refurbishment and upgrade of one of its former children's homes in Essex.

Due to the sensitivity and confidentiality required to protect the vulnerable children residing there, the name and location of the home will remain undisclosed.

The refurbished children's home is a four-bed service that represents a transformative step in enhancing the standard and quality of care provided by Salutem. Children and staff have been successfully relocated from an older, less suitable building to this purposefully designed facility, specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals supported.

Key features of the newly upgraded home include a spacious garden area with a basketball court, providing an inviting and recreational space for the children to engage in physical activities. Additionally, the facility is equipped with an activities/education room, fostering an environment that supports both academic and personal development.

For older young people on the cusp of adulthood, a transitional flat has been created, offering a semi-independent living experience and facilitating the acquisition of essential life skills to ease their transition into independence.

Karen Jackson, Divisional Director Children at Salutem, expressed her enthusiasm for this groundbreaking initiative, saying: "This represents a new type of offering in our care services. By investing in this refurbished home, we aim to elevate the standard of care we provide and enrich the lives of the children and young people in our care. Our commitment to their well-being extends beyond their stay with us; we strive to equip them with the skills they need to flourish as they embark on their journey to adulthood."

Salutem Care and Education offers compassionate and tailored care to children and young people aged six to 19, catering to a wide range of individual needs. Their specialised environments cater to those with learning disabilities, complex health and physical disabilities, social, emotional, and mental health needs, as well as solo occupancy arrangements to support those with challenging behaviours.

The newly refurbished home exemplifies Salutem's ethos of providing a continuum of care, ensuring that each child and young person receives the appropriate support and attention they require to achieve their best outcomes. With the support of dedicated and skilled staff, the young people thrive in a caring and structured environment, with the added emphasis on preparing them for the challenges of adulthood.
