Salutem Care and Education opens new supported living service in Worcester

05/07/2023

Salutem Care and Education, a leading provider of care and support services, is pleased to announce the opening of its latest development in supported living, Henwick, located in the St Johns area of Worcester.

The announcement comes in Co-Production Week. Co-production is about working in equal partnership with people using services, carers, families and citizens. It offers the chance to transform social care and health provision to a model that offers individuals real choice and control.

Salutem works in partnership to design new services with a range of organisations, including housing providers, occupational therapists, nurses, community teams and families, and most importantly the individuals it supports.

Henwick is a four-bed supported living service designed to empower young adults with learning disabilities to live as independently as possible, whilst receiving the necessary support to thrive.

At Henwick, the primary focus is to enable individuals to achieve their personal goals, reach their full potential, and live within their local community in their own homes.

Supported living enables people who may have care and support needs, to have choice and control of their home and support. The on-site team provides comprehensive assistance in all aspects of their lives, including support to enable individuals to manage their tenancy, personal care, education provisions or employment opportunities, bill payments, shopping, cooking, and organising memorable experiences like concerts and theatre outings.

Henwick is the latest addition to Salutem’s growing portfolio of supported living services across the country. It strives to create an inclusive environment where individuals can make choices and decisions about how they want to live their lives.

Sally Jobling, divisional director – supported living at Salutem Care and Education said: “We are delighted to deliver another wonderful supported living service in partnership with Warwick Investments, Inclusion Housing and Worcestershire County Council. It is a great example of co-production in action.

“This fantastic property will offer four young adults the key to their own front door, for the first time in their lives.

“With care and support provided by Salutem Care and Education, this will enable them to flourish and continue their journey to greater independence, whilst living in a carefully designed environment, developed specifically to meet their individual needs.

“This service is our latest development of supported living in the Midlands; we are proud to be able to work in partnership with our commissioning and housing partners to deliver accessible, sustainable, high quality services for the people we support.”

Adam Jones, Commissioner at Worcestershire County Council said: “Henwick continues Worcestershire’s policy of developing high quality supported living services for young adults with learning disabilities. This property will allow four friends to leave their family homes and learn the skills to be as independent as they can be in a safe, supportive and fun environment.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Sally Jobling, Kathie Paltridge and Charlotte Parsons from Salutem; their commitment to supporting the four tenants from the tender award stage right through to moving in has been excellent and what we at Worcestershire have come to expect from our supported living providers.

“Warwick investments played their part brilliantly in finding such a great property and refurbishing it to the tenants’ individual needs and personal tastes and I look forward to working with Warwick further in the future. I’m extremely hopeful that the four young people moving in will be happy with the support provided by Salutem in their new home.”
