PRAISE FOR GATESHEAD CARE HOME
Craigielea Nursing Home in Gateshead has been rated as ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission following its recent inspection.
Inspectors found that the care home, operated by Solehawk Limited, ‘supported people to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests.’
The report noted that ‘The registered manager had made some positive changes and had more planned’ and ‘the atmosphere during the inspection was upbeat.’
It also stated that ‘People were kept safe from abuse’ and ‘relevant policies were up to date and information on how to report any concerns was readily available.’
The use of technology was also praised – ‘People’s care plans were up to date. Staff updated records electronically via handsets.’
Craigielea provides accommodation, nursing and personal care for up to 60 people, some of whom are living with dementia.
Steve Massey, operations manager at North East-based Solehawk said: “This very positive inspection report is testament to the hard work of the whole team at Craigielea.
“A lot of commitment and effort has gone into making sustainable improvements and the ‘Good’ rating demonstrates this. I am proud of this achievement and fully expect the excellent quality of care and support to continue.”
