Union Industries High Speed Doors tackle warehouse heat loss and reduce energy usage at Donghua Ltd

02/08/2023

Union Industries, the UK’s leading manufacturer of high-speed industrial doors, has supported a project at West Midlands manufacturer, Donghua Ltd, to eradicate heat loss from its warehouse, with the installation of a pair of its Bulldoor Rapid Rise Doors.

Wolverhampton-based Donghua Ltd, a UK subsidiary of the Hangzhou Donghua Chain Group, produce a comprehensive range of chains, sprockets and accessories for industrial applications.

With a high level of vehicle and pedestrian traffic accessing its warehouse, which holds in excess of 800 tonnes of chains, the company needed to reduce the opportunity for heat to escape from the 25,000 sq ft facility.

The solution has been provided by Leeds-based Union Industries, which designed, supplied and installed its Bulldoors, which, with their rapid 1.6m per second opening and closing speed, minimise the ingress of exterior weather conditions and help maintain the integrity of the warehouse’s interior.

With one door installed to the interior of the warehouse and the second installed on the loading bay, the Bulldoors serve to minimise the loss of warm air when weekly container deliveries are made.

An added benefit is the establishment of a clear barrier of segregation between Warehousing and Production areas, which helps improve both cleanliness and safety.

The doors are conveniently operated via remote control and include a 'Crash-Out & Auto-Reset' feature as a standard safety measure which helps keep costs associated with door impacts to a minimum.

Renowned for reliability and efficiency, Union Industries’ doors, including the Bulldoor, have become the go-to choice for manufacturers tackling heat loss and rising energy prices. Featuring a robust design and requiring minimal maintenance, they can withstand constant high-volume operations.

Dan Wellsbury, Warehouse Manager at Donghua Ltd, said: “With a recent significant investment in a new heating system in our production area, it was crucial to find a door solution that would prove reliable, be of high quality design and manufacture, and could operate in such a way to help reduce heat loss from the building.

"The Bulldoor is a tried and tested product, and working with Union Industries and their commitment to quality meant that their engineers delivered and installed the two doors in line with our own high standards."

Rob Howe, Technical Sales Engineer at Union Industries, said: "We are pleased that once again, the Bulldoor is the first choice for those in the manufacturing industry as they tackle heat loss and rising energy prices.

“The Bulldoor is one of our best-selling doors and has been developed by our own R&D team over the years to become the reliable workhorse that it is today. Its robust design ensures minimal maintenance and can withstand constant high-volume operations.”
