Bristol Street Motors Carlisle Vauxhall has helped four dads from Silloth-on-Solway to raise £5,000 for Prostate Cancer UK.

The dealership on Parkhouse Road provided a vehicle to enable the group to visit all 20 Premier League football clubs and a few Championship grounds over a 72-hour period.

Paul Donald came up with the 72-hour challenge after losing his football loving dad to Prostate Cancer. Mark Beattie, Baz Taylor and Mike Schofield all joined Paul to support him and help raise an outstanding £5,000 for Prostate Cancer UK.

During the challenge, the dads visited eight clubs a day, while driving hundreds of miles in between. They collected signed shirts from clubs and supporters, which will be used at a fundraising event later in the year.

Bristol Street Motors Carlisle Vauxhall loaned the charitable friends a Vauxhall Grandland hybrid for the challenge.

Paul Donald, organiser of the event said: “The support for the campaign has been amazing.

“We are planning on holding a fundraising event to auction all the signed Premier League shirts and have received many other prizes from sporting organisations. The proceeds will be split between Prostate Cancer UK and Silloth Junior Football Club”

Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer for men in the UK, with one in eight men diagnosed with the disease in their lifetime.

Prostate Cancer UK is the UK’s leading charity for Prostate Cancer, funding vital research for the disease and campaigning for better services.
