Vertu Truro Land Rover celebrates double victory in UK Level 4 Master Technician of the Year Awards

03/01/2024

Two Cornish Vehicle Technicians have been named as the UK’s top Master Technicians.

Vertu Truro Land Rover is celebrating the remarkable achievement of two of its colleagues, Will Ivey and Noel Guilfoyle, who clinched 1st and 2nd place respectively in the prestigious UK Level 4 Master Technician of the Year Awards.

Will Ivey, a Hayle native and graduate of Hayle Community School, began his career with an NVQ Level 2 from Cornwall College and an apprenticeship at Hawkins Motors. His diligence led him to become a Master Peugeot Technician before joining Helston Garage Group’s Carrs Jaguar Land Rover, where he became a Land Rover Master Technician. Following the acquisition of Helston Garages Group in late 2022, Will joined Vertu Motors plc. Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Will will represent the UK in the upcoming Global Technician of the Year Awards.

Noel Guilfoyle, who grew up in Cornwall after moving from Wigan at the age of five, joined Carrs Jaguar Land Rover as a Level 3 Technician in 2016, and rapidly progressed to Master Technician. He won the UK Technician of the Year awards in 2017, 2021, and 2022, as well as securing second place in the Global Technician Awards earlier this year, ahead of 10,900 technicians worldwide.

The friendly competition and camaraderie between Will and Noel at Vertu Truro Land Rover have created an environment of excellence, resulting in this double triumph. "Having both the best and second-best Master Technicians in the country is a source of immense pride for us," said Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu Motors. "Their achievements reflect the high standards and commitment to quality we uphold at Vertu Truro Land Rover, and across our entire business."

Peter Kingwell, Head of Business at Vertu Truro Land Rover, adds: “I would like to congratulate Will and Noel on their outstanding achievements, and wish them continued success within their careers. They are a credit to the brilliant team here at Vertu Truro Land Rover.”

Will and Noel expressed their gratitude for the support from Vertu Truro Land Rover and their colleagues. Will said: "This honour is a milestone in my career, and I am excited to represent the UK globally," while Noel added: "It's a privilege to be recognised among the best in the UK, and I'm proud to contribute to our team's success."
